It is never too late to learn new grooming habits. The winter is very harsh on our skin so it is important to care for it. Razor rash, ingrown hairs etc. will be a thing of the past if you adhere to the following.
Shaving Courses
We run Hot Towel Shaving courses/seminars, either in your salon or in our training room in the Belfast salon. These are intensive one day training courses; where we teach our unique Hot Towel Shave, using an open razor and hot towels. Cleanse:
For your skin to look its best it should be exfoliated at least once a week,
- Deep cleans pores
- Removes dead skin cells
- Smoothes and refines skin
Exfoliating cleanser is a soap with fine grit, it will not only cleanse but refresh
Shave:
It is best to avoid shaving gels/creams etc. in aerosols as they tend to dry up your skin. Thankfully the male grooming market has never been better; the choice of quality shaving creams available is great, with good shaving cream you should invest in a shaving brush they can be inexpensive and last for years.
A shaving brush prepares your face better than rubbing soap in with your hands. Always shave in the direction of the growth, shaving against the growth will give you a closer shave but can also give you a shaving rash, ingrown hairs and razor burn, not pretty.
Protect:
Shaving doesn't just remove your bristles it also removes a layer of skin leaving your face dry and sensitive. It is important to hydrate it with an oil free moisturizer, so it is will be replenished but not shiny and oily.
You can get moisturizers with an SPF 15; apart from the obvious and well documented dangers of the sun it also ages your skin, so if you golf, ski, surf or participate in any other out door activity it is important to use at least a SPF15 to prevent skin damage. You should treat yourself to a professional facial once a month; being pampered and looking good is not just for the ladies, remember the Romans enjoyed it 2000 years ago.
